New course:
IDS 569 Reinforcement Learning with Business Applications (8-week online asynchronous -- Spring 2025 Term B)
Reinforcement learning with business applications is a newly designed, fully asynchronous online course that introduces the AI methodology of Reinforcement Learning, one of the pillars of modern AI, through its applications in business domains. Through its innovative focus on conceptual underpinnings rather than methodological depth, it is ideal for professionals with non-technical backgrounds or as an introductory course in RL. After taking this course, students will be able to (a) explain the RL methodology at a conceptual level, (b) evaluate the potential for implementing the RL methodology in a business decision-making scenario, (c) design and implement basic RL algorithms, and (d) identify the risks and ethical considerations for RL implementations. The course fulfills a central skill requirement for future AI professionals in business.
